Howlite was discovered near Windsor, Nova Scotia by Henry How, a Canadian Chemist in 1868, and is now named after him.
Howlite is an extremely calming stone, especially when caused by an overactive mind. Howlite links into the spiritual dimension, preparing the mind to receive wisdom and insights. It assists in journeys outside the body and accessing past lives, it opens up memories of other lives, including those in the “between-life” state.
Howlite formulates ambitions, both spiritual and material, and aids in achieving them.
Howlite teaches us patience and helps to eliminate rage and uncontrolled anger. A piece in the pocket absorbs your own anger and any that is directed toward you. It is also believed to help overcome a tendency to be critical and selfish, strengthening positive character traits. It allows for calm and reasoned communication to take place. This stone is thought to strengthen memory and stimulate a desire for knowledge.
This crystal is shaped in accordance with the “hexagonal system” law of nature. This means things in nature have a great propensity to form in hexagonal shapes, including beehives, carbon atoms in organic molecules, and basalt columns. Many crystals are packed together at the molecular level in hexagons. This means they naturally form into hexagonal shapes just as in the basalt columns of the Giant’s Causeway Ireland. Healing crystals in this form have focused and concentrated energy.
